Evaluation & profiling tools¶
Audience: coaches. The measurement side of MyZone Mindset — capture where an athlete is, and track it over time. There are four instruments; all live on the coachee's detail page (open a coachee from My Coachees) under the Check-ins & Profiles grouping, and some have a coach-run entry under Assignments → Check-ins & Profiles.
IPS — Ideal Performance State¶
Plots arousal (0–10) against performance (0–10) for each competition, so you can see the activation level where the athlete performs best. - The coachee records an IPS point per competition (arousal they felt + how they performed). - The chart fits a quadratic trend line through the points — the peak of the curve is the athlete's ideal zone. More points = a clearer curve. - Magic Number & IZOF — the Magic Number is that peak arousal; the IZOF (Individual Zone of Optimal Functioning) is the tight band around it. They only appear once there are 3+ real competitions spread across a range of arousal levels — including some lower-arousal ones — so a genuine peak (an inverted-U) can be found. Two entries, or several bunched at similar arousal, read "–" with a prompt to log more varied competitions. - Sleep/Panic calibration anchors (the Calibrate your curve card) pin the ends of the inverted-U so the chart curve is meaningful early. They shape the curve and refine the Magic Number's value, but they don't count toward the "3+ varied competitions" needed to show a number — real competition data is what earns it. - Requires Mental Toughness access.
Toughness Check-in (B3)¶
A quick coachee self check-in on the three basic mental skills — Goals, Imagery, Self-talk — the foundations that turn over week to week. Six statements (two per skill), each rated 0–10 for how true it's been "over the past week (or since your last check-in)"; the report rolls them into the three subscales with a trend over time. - The coachee runs it themselves from their home screen → Toughness Check-in. - It's the mental-toughness counterpart to the Wellness Check-in, and it can be broadcast live in a workshop (see Live workshops). - Requires Mental Toughness access.
5C — the applied mental-toughness components¶
The five applied components — Composure, Concentration, Confidence, Cope-ability, Cohesion (each rated on a 1–10 scale) — shown as a radar chart. These take longer to develop than the B3 basics, so they live under profiling/evaluation rather than the weekly check-in. The 5C come in three forms: - 5C evaluation (coach-administered) — you rate the coachee on each factor. Run one from the coachee's Evaluations; re-run periodically to see the shape change over time. - 5C Mental Toughness Profiling (coach-issued) — a fuller 25-item self-profile the coachee completes. It's a proper profiling tool now: it appears in the client's Profiling Tools list next to Mindfulness and reports through the same flow (any new tool added later appears there too). Turn it on for a client from their Check-in access card — until you do, they see it locked ("Coach-issued"); you can still record it for them in-session. It's credential-gated — only Mental-Toughness-trained coaches (CMTCF / CPC) issue and debrief it. Results land in the client's My Reports → 5C Mental Toughness Profiling tab (alongside the coach evaluations above). The instrument's reverse-worded items are scored correctly.
Performance Profile¶
The athlete rates themselves on a set of categories (Physical, Technical, Tactical, Mental, plus any custom ones) with a current and a target rating (0–10). The gap between current and target is the development priority. - Customise the categories (add/rename/drag to reorder) and set goals per category. - Can be coach-run (you facilitate) or self-serve (assign it and the coachee fills it). - Assign it via Assignments → Run a Profiling → Performance Profile.
Mindfulness Profile¶
A subscale self-assessment (the mindfulness instrument), reported as a profile with APA-style references. Assign via Assignments → Run a Profiling → Mindfulness Profile; results show on the coachee's profile. Like the 5C profiling it's coach-issued only and credential-gated — it's the Mental-Wellness-side profiling, so only Mental-Wellness-trained coaches (CMWCF / CMWC) can issue and debrief it.
Good to know¶
- Reading the charts — radar = the 5-factor shape (bigger is stronger); the IPS scatter = find the arousal level at the top of the curve. See Reading reports.
- Assign profiling in bulk with a Programme Pack: add a Mindfulness Profile or Performance Profile item and every member gets it on apply.
- MT vs MW gating — IPS, the Toughness Check-in (B3), and the 5C are Mental Toughness tools; Wellness and Mindfulness are Mental Wellness tools. A coachee only sees content their access flags allow.
