IAPCF hours & cohorts¶
How MyZone and IAPCF work together for the two things operators ask about most: which activity counts toward a member's hours, and how course groups get created.
PD hours — what counts, and what doesn't¶
MyZone reports a member's activity to IAPCF automatically. It counts toward the 100-hour Associate → Professional target (and toward renewal). It appears on the coach's PD Hours card.
The rule is delivered vs received: hours are for coaching you give, not training you receive.

Two things that surprise people:
- The trainer earns the hours, the attendees don't. Running a CMWCF class earns you facilitation hours. The people sitting in it earn nothing from attending — attending isn't hours. If a class member does real coaching afterwards, that counts.
- Practice doesn't count. During the course practice window, coaches rehearse on auto-created sample clients. Those sessions never count — you're practising, not delivering.
"My hours aren't showing up"¶
Almost always one cause: the member has no IAPCF record yet. Hours for someone IAPCF has never heard of have nowhere to go, so they're dropped (and logged on our side). The fix is on the IAPCF side — the member gets a record through the batch invite, and hours flow from then on. Historic activity can be re-sent once the record exists.
Cohorts build themselves¶
When IAPCF invites a member with a course batch, MyZone automatically:
- Creates a group for that batch (the first time a member from it appears), and
- Adds the member to it.
You don't build course groups by hand. A few things worth knowing:
- One group per batch code. Members accumulate — if someone does a second course, they're added to the second group as well, so the first cohort's reports stay intact. Nobody is moved out of a group.
- Renaming a batch in IAPCF is safe — MyZone tracks the batch code, not its display name, so a rename never splits or duplicates a group.
- Coaches aren't placed in cohorts — they run them. Only participants become group members.
Because the group is a course group, MyZone knows the exercises done inside it are class work — which is why they don't count as coaching hours for attendees (above).
